Olga Gay Worontzoff ended her senior year as an eighteen-year-old girl totally in love with Nate, enjoying their new romance and about to attend the university of her dreams. Now she’s spending her summer in the weird subculture of the Underworld, with charmingly witty and powerful angels, and problematic demons, trying to rescue Connor, the best friend and secret crush she was unable to save during a freak accident.

But Nate has other things on his mind, mainly Grace. She’s their first assignment as joint spirit guides, and Olga’s feeling hurt and jealous. His mysterious behavior has Olga questioning everything she believed about him and now she must decide whether to stick to their plan, or follow her heart. Unfortunately, a series of mistakes threatens everyone around her and plants Olga in the center of cosmic events much larger than she ever imagined.

Only one thing is certain: the chilling truths uncovered during her journey will leave no one untouched.

My Opinion:

Its the second book on the "My so called afterlife" Saga by Jamie Ayres.
The last book stopped on a MASSIVE cliff hanger.

Well, I can't continue on talking about the book without the HUGE spoiler of the first book. If you don't want to ruin youself the 1st book, don't go on with the review and you can instead check out my review of the first book. (Believe me, its worth a try

So... Here you have the alert. (Beyond this point... Consider yourself warned
Remember that the spoilers end when the image shows again.

After Olga and Nate discover that the past year was their Limbo Test to deserve Haven they took up on a new adventure. They choosed the path of becoming Guide Spirits.

This will give them a lot of happiness and a lot of troubles too.

Specially to Olga, with this new revelation, she can only think of seeing Conner again and her wish comes true way too soon.

When in her journey to find Conner, Olga gets herself and the others in BIG troubles by making some bad stuff along the way.

Picture this: Yesterday you were alive, with your friends and your family, imagining a big future, Today you find out you are dead and suddenly a millennial war falls over you and your dead friends because of you.

Thats exactly how it goes.

But then... BOM! The end hits you with such a Cliff-Hanger AGAIN. This should be illegal. (On the good side, I already had the 3rd book, so I didn't get too angry since I could pick it up next morning :P

About the characters.

Olga, she stops being the cry-baby girl she used to be, she grows up (in the spiritual at least), we can see a development of her personality with a sudden twist of the development for an obsessive personality.

Nate, he is just as cute as he always was, (even when, in a few parts, I was thinking "What a jerk"), we can see in this book a new face of Nate, a vulnerable face of a guy who is willing to everything for love.

Conner, what can I say about him... I loved him at times and suddenly I started to hate him. However we can se a sensitive yet cocky and rebel boy. He is the "bad boy" we all fall in love with. But he is still this crazy Star Wars fan. (He is described handsome too, so I don't blame Olga

Riel. He is AMAZING. I mean, he is angel, he should be as perfect as he is, right? He is charming, lovely, powerful and sarcastic and I just love his sense of Humor. (I'm still wondering if its legal to fall for an angel...

Ash. Honestly... I got a little bit scared of finding myself on his bad side...

Grace. Ugh, I didn't liked her. I mean, she was a pain. But she wasn't a bad person. I just found her to be way too silly about her mother (but is totally understandable.

Rated like this because...

  • Riel. He makes the book to be perfect.
  • Nate is a sweetheart and such a hottie.
  • Well written
  • Good plot twist about the religious part giving it context.

  • Olga got on my nerves with her obsession on Conner
  • Not enough Riel.

About the author.

Jamie Ayres writes young adult paranormal love stories by night and teaches young adults as a Language Arts middle school teacher by day. When not at home on her laptop or at school, she can often be found at a local book store grabbing random children and reading to them. So far, she has not been arrested for this. Although she spent her youthful summers around Lake Michigan, she now lives in Florida with her prince charming, two children (sometimes three based on how Mr. Ayres is acting), and a basset hound. She really does have grandmothers named Olga and Gay but unlike her heroine, she's thankfully not named after either one of them. She loves lazy pajama days, the first page of a good book, stupid funny movies, and sharing stories with fantastic people like you. Her books include the first two installments of her trilogy, 18 Things and 18 Truths
